Former Employee - Program Manager, Software Operations in Boston, MA

I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 10 years

HP Software is an organization with great teamwork; it is both collaborative and supportive. The sales support initiatives I managed allowed me to directly impact the effectiveness of our worldwide field sales team, which in turn impacts revenue and corporate bottom line. I felt my work had value and was recognized.

The HP Software management had frequent turnovers during my 12 years. Change in leadership and reorganizations interrupt and impact business and employees.

Teleworkers in New England are fairly obsolete and now require annual signoff at the VP level. HP Software is centralized in Sunnyvale, CA. In New England HP cut back on real estate and eliminated 100+ facilities. Teleworking became the norm for many years. Then Meg Whitman became CEO and wanted workers back in central sites for greater morale and productivity. New sites were consolidated in CA, not New England.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

New England is a mecca of technical ability and you are missing out on talent due to the corporate fear of remote employees.
