    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    There are so many great hard working people. There is also so much great diversity and experienced from employees of the companies like DEC, Compaq, Tandem. Have met co-workers who will be lifetime friends and colleagues. Company has so much potential to do more for their employees and therefore customers..

    Cons

    To much focus on cutting expenses and Work Force Reduction. This causes employees to not do the best they can because they get distracted because of job searches or lack of confidence in job security. Business units are disconnected and don't seem to know what the other does. Classic example is the ES & TS organization. They don't know what each other does and finger pointing happens.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop the use it or lose it vacations. Allow at least 1-2 weeks of rollover. I had lost vacation days because of the workload. Truly value your employees, walk the talk.
