    Pros

Decent work life balance, many competent peers, collaborative culture, high value of customer satisfaction, solid engineering

    Cons

Slashed benefits and salaries under Mark Hurd partially restored, but it's certainly not the same company that hired me a half a decade ago. Cost cutting mania has helped in some areas to be productive, but the burden of employee self service is not always efficient or intuitive, and with no humans to call for help, it can wear you out sometimes. Compensation for people on incentive is the worst in terms of reliability. Can't view your performance in real time, limited ability to manually claim lost commissions (statute of limitations, plus difficult to discover deals that have come in that are not readily identifiable). On the flip side, they will audit you if your sales are "too high," holding up commissions (happened to me twice), and they can also reach back into previous fiscal years to debit commissions without explanation or documentation (happened to me twice, unrelated to above). In one case, I was not only debited, but had no chance to appeal, was not documented to me when they did it, did not give me warning to financially plan for it, and did not offer to do it gradually to allow some semblance of cash flow.

    Advice to Management

Stop talking about it and start paying attention to compensation issues like you mean it. Treat compensation like gold so that we can tell you value us (I'm not talking about more money). Also, give us an internal search engine that works.
