Specific to Highmark's IT, known as HM Health Solutions (HMHS)...great benefits and competitive pay. Flexible work arrangements. Current relevant technologies. Plenty of opportunities for those with the aptitude and drive to deliver.
Exciting and challenging projects. Most employees strive to do their best. Plenty of individuals who are passionate about their jobs.
Visionary executive management. Executive management has the desire, and provides forums, to understand what is going in the trenches, and utilizes that info in attempt to improve IT processes and employee opportunities.
HMHS poised for growth in becoming a leader in providing SaaS to other Blue Cross Blue Shield companies.
HMHS, and their parent Highmark, care about the communities in which they operate. Volunteerism is heavily promoted, including the ability to attend volunteer events on company time. Highmark provides support to various organizations and events that benefit the local community.Cons
Work life balance can be challenging. You have to manage your own work life balance, don't expect management to do it for you. They'll take all they can get from you. If you think about it, this is probably true at most any company.
HMHS' executive management view and desires absent from the actions and management style of some front line managers.
