    I have been working at Hillshire Brands full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    *Culture is the best I've ever been exposed to. In our facility, everyone is extremely supportive of one another, and we are encouraged to have fun while being productive.
    *Our direct supervisors are outstanding. I can't say enough about how great it is to have a boss that truly has your back, is honest with you, considers your opinion, allows fun to happen, and accepts your feedback regarding their behaviors and operations.
    *We are kept well informed of the company's financial standing and innovations, and our upper management is very visible.

    Cons

    *Minimal opportunities for advancement outside of the "traditional, defined" chain. For instance, customer service stays in supply chain, moving to supply planning, and so on. There are few instances where employees have deviated from that and moved to other parts of the company.
    *Company wide meetings can be excessive in time and content.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    *Too much emphasis is placed on college degrees--candidates should be considered for their talents, passions and experience, not just where they went to school/what major they chose.
    *Create more opportunity for lower level employees to provide honest feedback anonymously...not post meeting, but constantly. Reach out for ideas and points of view from us. The senior management is visible, but I don't know that they're hearing anything that doesn't have a specific number attached to it.
