I have been working at Holland & Barrett Retail

The training courses are good fun and it's good to get qualifications. The discount and the products are good. My colleagues are fun to work with

Loneworking for over half your shift. Expected to provide exceptional customer service but I don't even approach customers because I know I'll have to run back on the till to serve because we are so understaffed. Constant issues with promotions due to poor marketing staff yet we are left to pick up the pieces. The pay is absolutely terrible when expected to do overtime and not get paid for it, yet you don't even get one thank you from area managers etc. morale in stores is so low because of this, staff just think "what's the point, I don't get paid for it". People don't work for free, I used to in this company then realised I was being used. Area managers use you then promise you things and don't deliver. I used to love my job and see myself going somewhere but now I'm just a ticking time bomb before I explode and leave. I am applying for jobs and will be out of there as soon as I can.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't promise people things and then disappoint them. I was someone who would go out of my way to help my area manager in the hope of being noticed, but now I've realised it won't get me anywhere.
