I have been working at Holland & Barrett Retail part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The pay is good for under 18's
The 25% is good as you can buy stuff for family but even with the discount you can get some things cheaper on-line.
The store team is really friendly

    Cons

Extremely long hours. I am 17 currently and sometimes I have to work 9 hours with a 20 minute break. Except that at the end of the day we have to stay an hour free to face up, sweep and mop up whilst the assistant manager chills in the back office on her phone checking out new sales at H&M, if the area manager is confronted about this he just says its our duty and if we don't want to do this the doors are open, which is just sick. The shop advisers are expected to complete giant deliveries whilst the shop is running which is very dangerous and almost impossible to do due to the fact customers always are looking for help. The staff is being dictated what exactly what they have to do and they do not recognize the good workers but always only benefit the managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change how you treat your employees, stop running your business like a dictatorship.
