    I worked at Hospice Advantage full-time

    Pros

    I had a friend that worked here. I had a passion for hospice so I thought i would try a for profit company.

    Cons

    Boy did I make a mistake. All you hear every day "We need starts of Care", Regardless of service issues, poor quality brochures, nothing that stands them apart from the competitors, that doesn't matter, just get starts of care!! Essentially no marketing department at corporate. There is no market research so basically you are going in blindly and guessing who may be a good potential. No training to speak of and everyone in corporate thinks they are a marketer. My integrity and credibility in the field was being compromised by selling their services. The company expects you to use your own personal money for marketing and it takes them 2 -3 weeks to reimburse, its all on paper so not very efficient either. That sends a huge message to me "we don't believe in a marketing fund but if you must, go ahead and we will reimburse you"!

    The CRM system developed internally is ok, but our VP didn't see it as a tool to help those in the field rather he used it as a tool to tell you, what you cant do. All around a very disorganized company from a sales and marketing perspective.

    I wouldnt have stayed as long as I did if it wasnt for the clinical staff. Thank god for them!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    If you are going to continue asking your field personnel to use their own money for marketing, find a better, faster more efficient way to reimburse them.

    Check your field VP's, ours got lucky, he has no leadership skills!

    Re-organize your marketing from the top down. Training should be split up between basic hospice 101, the hospice advantage way and sales skills training. I came into this position knowing about hospice but not how HA does things and it was never made clear. You need real sales directors at the regional level. Develop better messaging and assure your brochures reflect your message.
