I worked at House of Fraser part-time (More than 3 years)
The team I was working alongside was great and I felt so welcome! There was always something to do from customers to tasks. But of course there was quite times with hardly any customers. My top tip is self motivation. Being in a department store opens a wide range of opportunities so if you want to build a career, it's an ideal place, I went on from this role to a concession but still within house of Fraser!
Unfortunately the amazing people I worked with kept leaving, management didn't take care and listen to staff in what they wanted. The rotas wasn't fair on my particular department. There was a lot of older members that have been with the company a long time but were working early shifts mon-fri, meaning any other members were stuck to do only late shifts and weekends. I also was on a part time contract but doing full time hours which was really hard as you don't get the perks the right amount of holiday leave etc. Any overtime for staff member was a late shift!
Advice to Management
Listen and care about the staff members, you keep loosing the good ones.
