    I worked at Houston ISD

    Pros

The salary was decent and there are some really great students and teachers struggling in HISD.

    Cons

Prepare to work 60-80 hour weeks with little gratitude. Violence is swept under the rug. Administration was like a revolving door, as was most of the staff. Not only was my campus incredibly violent, but punishment for said violence was light as administration was under pressure to lower the number of suspensions. Pressure was constantly on the teachers to perform and pass students, even if they didn't deserve it. Morale was low among both students and staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The current system to create improvement does not work and continued pressure and elimination of staff makes for a stressful working environment. Also, appearances on campus can be deceiving -ask students and teachers.
