I have mix experiences. I hate looking at the paycheck but enjoy the working environment.

I have been working at Hudson County Community College as a contractor (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The Pros at working for Hudson County Community College is an opportunity to provide an important educational service for predominantly minority students spread throughout Hudson County. It is a good place to work if you hold a full time job somewhere else or if you are retired from another job.

    Cons

The main challenge is trying to make a living as an adjunct professor. The college is made up of predominantly adjunct who get paid a paltry salary for teaching a 3 credit course amounting to approximately $1,850.00. It is much below the national average and one of the worst paying schools in the nation. Full timers earn a better salary with benefits but there are not many opportunities available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would ask the upper management to be more considerate of the adjunct faculty and whittle a bit of their largess salaries.
