I have been working at Hunter College

    Pros

Program Assistant to two professors who are each Program Coordinators. Slow pace most of the time, the two professors I assist are both lovely and since I am a graduate from one of the programs and the subject area is closely related to the other, the work is familiar and everyone feels like family. Easy schedule; only work when one has office hours twice a week, and the other lets me work from home. Very good gig to keep me relevant until I am ready for full-time work again. I was told in interview since I have a Masters degree, my hourly rate would be higher than if I did not, so that's nice.

    Cons

Paychecks are 1 month behind schedule, so it's a long wait at first, and multiple errors on HR's part has meant I rarely get a correct paycheck. Took months to get a staff ID because of people forgetting to take necessary steps, and HR people can be rude regardless of how polite you are/how much you smile and say thank you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No point to give advice since this is a giant bureaucratic machine.
