    I worked at Imagination


    On paper, ample benefits to joining the company. The New York office is in Tribeca, a lovely neighborhood to work in. After a waiting period, they cover entire medical premium and offer a matched 401K, a Flexible Spending Account and TransitChek program, 15 vacation days/year, plus 3 personal days and 10 sick days. Salaries seem to be industry average; will lean high or low depending on the initial negotiation.

    Producing some interesting, innovative work and looking to expand their offer, which has improved employee morale slightly (trying to play with the "big dog" ad agencies and move away from their old focus of mainly tradeshows and experiential marketing). Friendly and supportive co-workers. Flexible working hours, depending on department, especially in the summer. Can also work from home some of the time.


    Management in New York/Detroit offices leave much to be desired and changes need to be made. Communication between supervisors and their staff has been a big issue. Problems with people not knowing who they actually "report" to.

    HR is lacking, seems like there are several people trying to piece together benefit information/vacation tracking.

    Faulty and frustrating "annual" review process (didn't always happen). Reviews are actually for "personal development", meaning no tangible benefits even if goals are set. Some very talented people have been with the company for years and years without a change in salary or responsibility; be sure to step up and make your voice heard if you join the agency.

    Very little employee advocacy: no mentoring, no focus on development of individuals in the office, and often hire from outside instead of promoting from within. Frustrating for staff members to not be rewarded, appropriately advanced, or even praised for their effort. I feel a lot of people stay with the company because of their flexible attitude towards vacations, days off, working hours, existing salary, etc. It's all enough to "hang in there."

    Very little involvement in the industry and social media. Agency doesn't feel as involved/current as others.

    Low morale altogether.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take the above to heart. There is some great talent (you should know, you hired them) wasting away here. Take strides to make employee advocacy and mentoring a bigger focus.
