I have been working at Infusionsoft full-time

    - Cool and lively office space - Coworkers are friendly and talkative - Important mission to help small businesses - A handful of smart, quality leaders - Impressive employee training - Strong purpose, vision and core values - Flexible work hours - Free cereal, coke and coffee/espresso

    - Great values, but you often only see 4 to 5 of the 9 really in action; this hypocrisy grates against employees - Pockets of the company are run very poorly; some leaders seem completely outmatched and overwhelmed by their role and responsibilities, but they cover it up with positivity and niceness - Some management requires teams to put in excessive effort to overcome poor leadership and administration; this leads to a lot of burnout - Product is becoming more and more dated; often new releases are just tidying up bugs and hitting a number of customer requests; the technical debt will continue to increase, unless a wholesale approach is brought to the product and getting it right (from the inside out) - In some areas, pretty heavy resistance to challenging the status quo - Some leaders don't listen to the feedback from their teams - Numerous small things that just never get fixed - Promises aren't always kept ("Do what you say you'll do" and "Do the right thing" by your employees) - Appearance of an "iron ceiling" where only certain employees (family or church members) are considered for promotions / top level positions - Attempting to run a 700 person company like it is a startup still; you can't have everybody on every committee and in every meeting; nothing gets done that way; the machine has been redlined too long and parts are starting to fall off - Recent budget cuts, hiring slowdowns and poor results on Great Places to Work survey - High turnover rate

    Advice to Management

    - Get rid of all values that aren't going to be lived out and held up; just do it - Or, follow the values - Seek out brutally honest feedback about what is going on in each branch of the tree; there is some serious rot, and if it isn't dealt with, parts will keep falling off - The top levels need to reach out the bottom levels and find out what is really going on; don't just rely on the feedback filtered back up through several levels of middle management - Deal with ineptitude in the ranks of middle management, and really upper management - Pour whatever it takes into the product to make it a top-notch offering - Take a break from promoting the pumped up culture to observe the actual culture; then take corrective action to align the culture back to where it should be - Stop saying "despite what the survey says, this is a great place to work" if your employees have told you loudly and clearly that it isn't; that makes it sound like you haven't genuinely listened to your employees and aren't doing whatever it takes to fix things; instead, work on making it a great culture again and take pride in that accomplishment
