    I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Massive amounts of Internet of Things technologies, great benefits, a lot going on. As with any big company Intel has a lot of different products, projects and events happening to tap into. My particular role grants me a lot of freedom and creativity within my team and tremendous opportunities for growth. Someone sitting a few rows down from me may have an opposite experience based on their manager. This review is based on my own satisfaction level which is probably unusually high...I have a great boss and a great time.

    Cons

    There are more than a few "lifers" who dwell in Intel's remote locations and rarely see the light of day. Unfortunately the net effect is that major trends take a long time to percolate to these people. Much of what is happening in the industry passes them by and they don't really have plans to go anywhere anytime soon. Interspersed with lifers there are some very talented and motivated people as well. Once I built my network it was easier to avoid the lifers and get things done by focusing on the talented folks. On the whole, Intel is not great at software. The office designs and layouts are often stuck in the 1985 office-space realm though they are taking steps to refurnish. Different groups have different "lifer quotients."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    No more grey cubicles. Open internal makerspaces for hackers and makers to tinker and build their own creative projects. I feel that an internal makerspace for a company like Intel would do a lot to embrace the creative potential of it's own employees and break the image of a giant blue / grey blob. Stop using powerpoint for everything, stop using powerpoint decks as requirement documents, if any slide has more than 30 bullet points then fire the person who created it.
