    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Interior Health Authority part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Provides a very necessary service to the people in the East Kootenay of BC. Facilities being upgraded steadily - excellent doctors/practitioners offering the best service their staff can provide. Effective Community Health programs staffed by caring, dedicated, knowledgeable personnel. Terrific community support for Foundation funding.

    Cons

Like all businesses the bottom dollar dictates the payroll but too many supervisors/administrators and a shortage of front line workers are desperately needed in all sectors. Lost some top-notch employees due to burnout and a lack of respect/sincere appreciation for services provided Seem to feel the front-line workers need so much supervision - not enough genuine Listening when staff is consulted for suggestions. I see much frustration among staff.

    Advice to Management

Give front line workers (clerks/Nurses/general duties staff respect and more support/assistance. Not enough appreciation shown for the dedicated workers - offer encouragement rather than loading them with even more responsibilities while others "drift".
