They say they mean well. But far too many people leave disappointed.

I worked at Intrepid Learning Solutions as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedules. Ability to work from home. Unfortunately, that's about it.

    Cons

Stunningly unethical behavior on the part of senior managers. Many, many good people have left this company with a bad taste in their mouths. Sadly, Sam Herring is a figurehead and a "golden boy" who gives good speeches - but he is not the right person to lead a company, under any circumstances. There's been a revolving door of leaders for years. You're promised much more than you're given. Some of the unethical behavior is stunning in its transparency and audacity. Hard to believe Madrona backed this company and yet did not provide proper management oversight.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The CFO is not the right person to drive company culture. I saw terrible financial decisions made (like asking a former W-2 employee to take the same rate as a 1099, as if he wasn't aware of the negative tax implications of that decision). I witnessed people being pressured to make decisions that were not in their best interests. I saw people played against each other for assignments and hours (all of our work was hourly with absolutely no guarantees). And, I saw good people in middle management forced to do terrible things, like suggest to one outstanding employee that he didn't need a raise because he was already making enough money (after he had been a key player for a major account for a year). Upper management's attitude of turning a blind eye to this kind of ugliness is the reason there are so many negative reviews of this company here. I do not recommend working for them under any circumstances.
