Nice working atmosphere and great location. Regular employees are hard-working and work together well when allowed to. The product could be very strong and innovative with the right direction and talent behind it. It can be fun at times, and the work interesting and helpful to customers. Good "first job" sort of place if you're looking for that.
The senior management is schizophrenic, reeling from one initiative to the next. This is probably driven by the CEO who is young and completely unfocused with very little formal business experience or education. For sales staff, the focus is too narrow, and the lead generation is weak. The product is also weak, with no follow-though on a future path or effort to match and exceed competitors. Honestly, at the stage this company is, most investors/boards would have replaced the senior people, who mostly are still the founders, with more seasoned individuals. This especially applies to the CEO. Until that happens, this is one to avoid. There are better companies in the Boston area that are in the same space.
Advice to Management
Broaden the sales opportunities by not being so narrowly focused. Provide some sort of upward mobility path for employees that makes sense. Jettison the CEO who seems to be the cause of all the confusion and misdirection. Stop hiring and firing needlessly. The place is a revolving door. Every time you lay off or separate someone, it's a failure of management practice. There seems no end to it.
