JCP is a great salary retail job from an hours perspective.
The older population is a tight knit group that if you can penetrate its political walls you will enjoy your time. (I did this by being nice, respectful, asking for their insight and heeding their opinions and ideas, etc.)

-You may have "bonus" written on your contract but that is not going to come as JCP requires the store to hit unrealistic sales goals from a dying marketplace: department stores.
-Way to much merch to manage. I truthfully think that the buyers at JCP Corporate are complete idiots. Overbuying so much terrible merchandise that won't even sell on clearance that the store is required to package it all up and send it to liquidators by the TRUCKLOADS. Completely ruining any semblance of profit from the companies low traffic-small pocketed target customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sent a letter to Ron Johnson while I was in stores about what we were going through in stores to accommodate his daily-changing vision. (No joke, we had to add and remove product from shelves sometimes 2-3 times per day because he changed his mind.)

That said, Ron Johnson was a game-changer for JCP. His concepts COULD WORK but he worked to implement them WAY too quickly. Initiative after initiative. Quitting programs after short-term failures. This abrupt nature of the business was no helping the company create a gradual re-branding, a gradual move towards a great experience, a gradual move towards different product on the shelves (and not getting rid of the staple brands).

Now all of that said, JCP needs to understand that the companies ways HAVE to change. People do not enjoy shopping there anymore, things do need to change or you will continue to be more and more like Sears who is hanging on for dear life like a cliff hanger.
