    I have been working at J. Crew full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Really good work/life balance.
    Great location for the HQ in the East Village.
    Senior IT leadership are making changes for the better.
    Nice amount of vacation days.

    Cons

    The place is a bit of a circus sometimes. There are a bunch of very dramatic personalities that can be tough to deal with.
    Positive changes are hard to implement due to the very political nature of the environment.
    People get very comfortable with confusing and roundabout processes that constantly stop working.
    The original codebase is very tough to work with.
    You must be a self motivated person to change things or else be trapped constantly patching broken systems.
    Compensation is way below market value.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The retail business is changing and online is the way to go. Stop alienating technology people from communicating with people at the top.
