I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than a year)
I was attracted by the compensation. In a small market like Stockton, Sacramento, or Fresno CA, the salaries paid are higher than average and the benefits / commission structure appear good. However, smaller markets are not the company's focus.
Management of Business Banking in California has a retail banking (not commercial banking) background. They are very grindy (ie... what have you done today). They have set up goals in buckets (loans, deposits, new relationships, cash management, etc...), and want you to fill the buckets equally. Goals in small markets are ridiculously high, especially when they have divided the market down to small sectors; only owner occupied, no non-profits, no agriculture.
Advice to Management
"We are Chase" is not an answer to all question regarding bank shortcomings.
