I worked at J.P. Morgan (More than a year)

    Pros

J.P. Morgan was the ideal place to begin a career. The company boasts a world-class training, analyst and associate program, and exposes you to some of the smartest and most driven financial experts on Wall Street. Additionally, the breadth of J.P. Morgan's reach allows you to touch a number of different industries and products, allowing you to develop a wide scope of understanding and context in the financial markets.

    Cons

Although this is more a function of industry dynamics, the increased regulation over the past few years as well as what it looks like going forward has an impact on your ceiling. Working at a major investment bank such as J.P. Morgan can provide dividends in terms of its reach, your opportunity to work with a considerably large population of very smart and driven people, but it will ultimately limit your salary and career growth compared to other less regulated companies and industries. Like any major company, there is also a lot of internal red tape and politics that you'll need to learn to navigate (along with a little bit of luck) to succeed on a long-term basis.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to retain talent.
