I have been working at JoS. A. Bank part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

At my current location the only nice thing about working there is 1 of my key holders and 1 of my assistant managers. I also get a discount and since I'm a woman I can use that discount for gifts for the men in my family which is nice.

    Cons

Now I'm not sure what goes on at corporate but as far as our region the main person in charge of the stores around this is quite, respectfully, the most inconsiderate, hurtful, and self centered person I know. There is a fine line between being stern and being hurtful and rude. Our managers are usually older gentleman and sometimes need off for Dr apts and the like and she could care less. Managers are required to work 48 hours a week and are only paid for 40 of those hours. Full time employees have weeks where they are required to work 6 days in a row and the blackout dates are pretty much every major holiday and the time in between. There is a rule that you must make enough every hour to equal 95% of the time you worked and after 3 months of not doing that you are fired no questions asked. And what tickles me even more is that your store can go hours without having any customers and can happen that way every time you work and you will still get reprimanded for not making comission because you are expected to manipulate customers into buying merchandise. The only reason I still work as a part me employee is because of the recent buyout by men's warehouse.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would say to management that I understand why you are so bitter because of who is above you but I would also say to take it with a grain of salt. If by some chance Men's Warehouse corporate employees read this i would ask them to please review our current district managers, review the health care plan, and get rid of the rule to work 6 days, and 48 hours. I have met wonderful customers and people but the managers and above seem to be greedy and hurtful people.
