I worked for Jos A Bank for almost twenty years and was a part of its tremendous growth as a major retailer of men's clothing. It once was a powerhouse, and I was able to make a lot of money! During this time, "giants" walked the floors of our stores and regional offices. By that I mean people who were "real" regional managers, store managers, and associates. These individuals were well-trained and were put in positions that matched their skill level. This is not the case anymore.

For the past 4 or 5 years the gene pool that Jos A Bank pulls from when a hiring need arises has become, at best, abysmal. Regional managers and stores managers are put into these positions not based on their experiences or abilities but for political reasons. In addition, trying to find an educated person to be a sales associate who speaks American standard English has become almost impossible. Individuals who are very educated simply do not want to work for this company. As a result, stores are filled with employees who do not really know their jobs and do not really care about providing old-fashioned customer service, the way it used to be done! Not surprising, sales are dropping like a rock.
