I have been working at Jobvite full-time (More than a year)RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEORecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEO
The word I use to best describe Jobvite is "unique." Not because we have a company mascot, a dog named Pancake, that trolls the office for food. Not because we are a diverse group where being at least "a little weird" is a requirement for recruiting in pretty much every department. Not because we celebrate a different holiday almost every week with food (so much food). Although these statements are all true, these aren't the reason why I would call Jobvite "unique." I learned that Jobvite is a completely unique organization very much the hard way: I left. I pursued another role, something completely different from what I was doing at Jobvite. It took me a few short weeks to realize that Jobvite is unlike any other company in Silicon Valley and that, in the words of every Bluth on the show Arrested Development, "I've made a huge mistake." I sat around moping for awhile. I thought about asking for my job back a million times, being held back by the idea that I didn't think they would give me another shot. Finally, one day, I thought I'd take my chances. After long discussions and conversations with management, I was offered the job back. I couldn't have been more thrilled. Every single company has its low points, its high points, and a mediocre run. The thing about Jobvite is that during every phase of its growth and development, it has had managers that care deeply about the employees. I have never felt less like a "cog in the machine" in my life because each person contributes greatly to the moving pieces that propel this company forward at a fast-growing rate. It took me a long, roundabout route to come to this revelation, but I am now a full believer in the amazing path down which this company is going. If you're looking for a humble but forceful company that will make you feel like a creative, well-valued employee, you should accept that offer letter right now. Hope to see you soon.
The downsides are what every company faces in a fast-paced environment. If you believe in the product and the direction the company is going, you'll fit in just fine.
