    I worked at Johnson & Johnson as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    Interesting IT project assignments in consumer, medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Promotes from within. Strong skills training and employee development

    Cons

    Constant change yearly as new companies are acquired and merged into the organization. New IT managers from acquired firms are not willing to take risks after many have been let go. Some Full Time employees (business) consider IT contractors as "hired help" and are not willing to cooperate fully during projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Improve management of supply of IT contractors with ongoing demand for IT talent and reassign IT contractors within NJ locations as they finish one contract; rather than having this talent exit and have to reapply later for a new contract in another part of organization. Consider an internal contract web site where IT and other functional consultants can see postings for contract assignments that they can apply for...just as FT employees can see posted FT openings.
