I worked at KPMG US full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

KPMG has a great anti-discriminatory policy, an excellent code of conduct policy, work-life balance program, great pay and benefits

    Cons

KPMG management has a lot to be desired. The structure of the company is an upside down pyramid (executive top heavy). The office I worked in had poor morale and training for new employees was almost nonexistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

KPMG management needs to train their OMPs on office morale. There is more involved in being a manager than just meeting and greeting the clients, but your staff is weighted down with unrealistic expectations and goals. Office morale is so poor that they either leave or are asked to leave due to poor job performance because they don't have a mentor - someone who doesn't throw them under the bus, but wholeheartedly helps them in their professional development . KPMG also needs to be more diversified across the board. When I first joined the Detroit office, I was impressed by the diversity that existed. I saw people from various cultures and this made me feel comfortable and confident that I would be hired for the job. But, after about 2 years, I saw the diversity of this office sharply decline and more whites were employed and hired in than any other race. I saw employees talked to badly and even brought to tears by managing directors and senior managers. In all of KPMGs efforts to create a work environment that people want to come to it still has a ways to go.
