I have been working at Kaiser Permanente as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Kaiser actually has some excellent work facilities for both its employees and contract workers, and it has one of the most generous, flexible working arrangements that I've ever seen. it's an excellent company for family people who need stability and flexible work hours. And it's in HealthCare IT - you'll have job security until your coffin has been in the ground for three weeks.

    Cons

The work itself is typical Corporate cluster-fudge; Kaiser produces enough Dilbert fodder to make Scott Adams' next six boat payments. Like most big-company IT shops, you'll be spending most of your time trying to figure out the fad-of-the-week, and the ever-changing Org charts and workflow processes. You'll spend far more time doing the paperwork circle-jerk than you will creating actual computer code. But to be fair, it's no worse than 90% of the other Corporate IT shops out there. Don't take this criticism as a condemnation of Kaiser, but as a heads-up that if you're looking for something "different", it's not here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your people and their new ideas; don't reject innovative solutions just because you didn't think them up.
