I worked at Keller Williams full-time (more than 3 years)

The culture at KW is very well developed, matriculated, and practiced. The educational platforms are also very well put together. At this company, more so than at the other traditional brokerages, the environment is more professional and business like, and they excel at coaxing increased production from all of their agents.

Pay and treatment of employees (non-agents) can be very poor compared to other professional services firms. This results in a good amount of turnover. Being that each office is independently owned and operated, however, I'm sure this isn't the case in all regions. The real estate industry (in general) can attract a lot of motivated, clever, but entirely uneducated people, and with KW's emphasis on growth at all costs KW offices (as with most other traditional brokerages, I'm sure) can be plagued with a lot of shady business men/women.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Agent Leadership Council is a great concept, but should only serve to provide influence, guidance, and strategic planning. Decision making should come from the top only. Many offices have given their ALC too much power over decision making that should be handled at an executive only level. This can be problematic because real estate agents are inherently self-interested, and with 8-20 competing self-interests being lobbied, decision making becomes muddled and great offices can be led off course.

It can appear that offices/agents/teams in the Midwest. can and do receive special treatment. An inordinate amount of the KW Cares stories we hear about have ties to KW corporate executives or to the Midwest. California is making you guys a lot of money. Don't make us feel left out.
