Solid Company - You'll have to deal with strong personalities - Senior Management can sometimes be misleading

I have been working at Kiewit Corporation full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits, Good People, Passionate about their projects. Kiewit is a very diverse company in many market sectors, so if and when there is another downturn Kiewit it well insulated and read to go where the projects are.

    Cons

Senior Management is secretive at times which causes unrest with the rank and file. Operations personnel are valued, but underpaid. The Employee Ownership program is limited by the number of people in the program and large amounts of stock are consumed by Senior Management before the rank and file have an opportunity. The possibly of having to uproot your family is always hanging overhead, even when you're located in a strong market with plenty of work. Some Senior to Mid-Level Management tries to make things right for the employees, but they are often shut down by District Management and above. Kiewit has a very high overhead cost which can put them out of the competition at times. The company is trying to implement new technologies but is taking a one size fits all approach which is failing and bringing down morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't make moving a requirement for stock eligibility or future promotions. You'll get 3 or 4 times the production and loyalty from your employees if you pay them at market rate.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
