I worked at Kirkland's full-time for more than a year

Can't think of a single one - unless you are a country music fan and want to live in Nashville.

    - Poor leadership & management
     - Unrealistic budgets that make it nearly impossible to get bonuses - at least for some departments.
     - A relocation policy that requires 100% repayment of relocation expenses if you leave before your contract is up, regardless of how much of the contract was fulfilled. Oh, and you have to repay if they terminate you.
     - Strict vacation and sick time policies. If you say you are sick, you'd better be and don't even think about trying to use sick time as vacation.
     - Abuse of salaried employees. Work as many hours as you have to to get the job done but don't expect to be given any consideration when it comes to comp time or even being allowed to leave early when you need to.
     - Nepotism runs rampant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look at the real world. Compensation and benefits need to be updated if you want to attract real talent. Homegrown can be a wonderful thing but not if blinds you to what's really happening out there. Maybe things will change with a new president but, I doubt it.
