I worked at Knight Transportation full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Knight's unstructured environment allows a lot of autonomy - but getting results is critical.
The high level corporate executives are intelligent, and for the most part, have good people skills.
Most entry level employees work hard but are uneducated and often not disciplined - this makes it easy to distinguish yourself and rise up quickly.

    Cons

A typical mid level manger has little to no leadership skill.
The culture of the company in "the trenches" can be negative and unprofessional.
There is virtually no on boarding process for any office position -- come ready to sink or swim.
Compensation is low - entry level positions pay okay but as you rise up pay increases are small. One would have to become a VP to reach a six figure income.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Leadership training to mid-level mangers
Promote based on merit and not tenure
Compensate better if you want to stem attrition
Manage the culture among entry level employees better - this is why most people hate/leave the company
