    I worked at Kohl's part-time (More than 8 years)

You'll work with lots of different co-workers and hopefully make new friends and get to know others. Fast-paced, especially during the weekends and holiday season.

High turnover rate and it is attributed mainly to very low wages (minimum wage in most cases), and inconsistent hours each week. Sometimes it's based on your performance, how much credit and e-mail applications you solicit each week). Holiday hours over the years have become nothing but a nightmare and ridiculous; why do stores have to be open such long hours? I was there 9 years and things have changed so much over the years since first starting with the company. Associates get over-worked and are often mis-treated by management. Never really was a fan of most of the managers I worked under. They don't care about their employees and their well-being at all. Plus, very rude customers who think they can abuse the system and get whatever they want. When it's all said and done, the customer is the one who is in the right (regardless of if they are right or wrong in their actions) and the employee is always in the wrong no matter how hard they work. Very abusive work environment. Kohl's puts such an emphasis on customer service, credit, and e-mail applications, and when they don't really a daily goal, seems as though the associates get scrutinized. Actually, as long as I was there, I was always under the impression that I would be scrutinized regardless if I was doing my job or not. Also, the stores I've worked at are almost always a mess. Associates don't get trained very well at all and when I used to work in Customer Service, things were always disorganized and no one ever appreciated my system of keeping things nice and organized.

    Advice to Management

First and most importantly, treat your employees better and as if they were your true customers (which technically employees are the customers/clients of an employer when you think about it). Don't know how you would like to be treated the way employees have been treated over the years. Better wages and benefits would be a huge improvement, though I doubt that will be coming anytime soon.
