Great coworkers, but that's not enough to keep talent

I worked at LRS Architects full-time (More than 5 years)

Great coworkers and hands-on leadership. Pretty good work-life balance. Attempts to foster good company culture by having a few casual workplace events here and there.

Very low pay compared to similar jobs at similar companies in the area. Not very good with talent retention - willing to let great people go to competitors instead of paying more to keep them, even while the market is booming. Strict, old-fashioned dress code.

    Advice to Management

They really need a trained Human Resources position - having the company's lead accountant also double as HR is not healthy or appropriate, especially when that person is not very good with people. Relax the dress code - if you don't offer other perks, at least have a less old-fashioned dress code.
