I worked at Laterooms full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Absolutely great development staff, with loads of passionate people who really do want to produce world-class software as opposed to just the usual "just drifting along" types. The entire department has been pretty much re-organised in the past year, with new guys at the top who are doing an excellent job of chipping away at the issues which have plagued the organisation for the past few years, as well as bringing in the right people in the right places to bolster the teams. For people with the right attitude it's absolutely one of the, if not the, best development houses to work at in Manchester. Oh, and their commitment to internal training is highly impressive, including getting their best alumni back in to train the newer guys and giving people opportunities to train in things not directly related to their current position, which shows a remarkably long-term view towards how they want their staff to grow.

    Cons

It's a big company, and that comes with some big company things that might not be to your taste, like "personal development plans" and the odd weird corporate "fun day" etc.. Definitely not a place for those with a god complex (that's probably more of a pro). If you're into startup "hero" culture it may be a long way towards what you're looking for in terms of tech (node.js, for example), atmosphere, etc., but you're not going to be the guy who gets to put his hands into every part of the business (or even the department), they're just too big for that to be realistic. Benefits and culture are spot on so no complaints there! It's not the perfect place to work *yet*, and it's definitely not the right fit for everyone, but it's got some incredible upsides if it's the right fit for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on it. They are one of the strongest management teams I've ever come into contact with, with enough industry veterans that really know where they want that company to be that I can hardly see them doing anything but going from strength to strength.
