Products are great, but this is not where you want to be

I have been working at LeapFrog

    Pros

Great products, cool people across the company, hours can be good (culture is deadline driven/cyclical), evnironment looks fun, toys everywhere, children are allowed at work (during school breaks or a few hours towards the end of the day).

    Cons

Extremely top heavy. The tone changes as management changes--which is frequent. You have to prove yourself over again or run the risk of being forgotten, laid off, or pushed out. LeapFrog is trying to run on a lean crew, but the systems in place aren't strong enough to support it. There are still legacy systems in place. Oracle was implemented quickly and poorly. With not enough man power, the people who know the background and therefore "what's going on" being laid off/pushed out, and limited system support, turn over is high. This can be very frustrating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to value your people more. If you're not satisfied with someone's work, you need to be a good manager and manage them, train them up, do what you need to do. Everyone at Leapfrog is competent and wants to do a good job, but sometimes they need to be led a certain way. Putting down (former) employees is not professional and is a slap in the face to the employees who worked hard for you.
