I have been working at Learning Care Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Watching the children grow up, connecting with the families, making a difference in children's early childhood education; the director childcare discount is very nice; the potential of the curricula offered is great (if we could keep good teachers around for longer than a year to implement the programs as designed)

    Cons

Never enough payroll hours; difficulty in finding good teachers who will stay long-term and always having to deal with turnover/being short-staffed (not necessarily the fault of LCG, but it's something we deal with on a daily basis), it's hard to keep staff motivated when Walmart pays more than we do but the job of an ECE teacher is so much harder ; I am salaried and work no less than 55 hours a week - there is always so much to do and never enough time or help to get it all done in 40 hours; I feel like I don't ever have time to spend quality time with my own children because I work so much and am constantly being pulled in 500 directions that I'm exhausted at the end of the day; not many career possibilities beyond school director

    Advice to Management

Higher pay for teachers; don't expect school level managers to work 50-60 hours but only get compensated for 40; definitely more training for assistant directors that is not solely the director's responsibility to execute (we still have a school to run); training hours for new teachers built into payroll budgets so we aren't impossibly over matrix while trying to properly train new teachers; MORE TRAINING TO HANDLE CHILDREN WITH BEHAVIORAL CHALlENGES!! Redirection doesn't work for all children.
