I have been working at Life Time Fitness part-time (More than a year)
Great department head! Great team! Very sociable, intelligent peers to cooperate with on the daily grind. Good benefits for full-time; however, being part-time still has benefits including club membership and networking. Love the atmosphere and the mission of Life Time! Working with all of the departments in our location, I can say that workload will vary depending on department--some having more than others. Being in the front desk, it comes in waves... one minute you can be easy, and the next.. bing! bang! boom! Worth the experience if you are able to multitask and are sociable, and especially if you are a quick learner, and even more if you appreciate the lifestyle that Life Time promotes (as I do). Great work for someone who wants customer service experience, and also a place that you could potentially make a career out of it considering that Life Time has been consistently expanding.
When the management is great, there really isn't too much to complain about. I suppose the turn-over rate can be higher during the Summer-Fall transition, leaving shifts high and dry and needing to be picked up.. but most places that offer seasonal positions are like that. Compared to other gyms and similar facilities, Life Time takes the cake, but there are still a few small things that stick out to me that aren't "fun." First, considering the pricing of the club, the clientele can be a bit stuck up... that's just part of the business. Tied in with that, trying to promote sales for the club can be difficult at times when the pricing is what it is... however, Life Time isn't just a gym, it is a phenomenal health club with many other products/services... so, really, it's not that tough. Lastly, the turn-over is pretty high at certain times of the year, so that makes the workload more difficult. Overall, though, great club, company, and employment opportunity!
