    Former Employee - Shift Supervisor

I worked at Lindt & Sprüngli part-time (more than 3 years)

Selling Chocolate is fun...stress free. Working with customers to find the pefect gift is alot of fun. Fair wage for a part time job, nice discount - can be a nice atmosphere depending on the staff at that location. Easy to restock store, do inventory & floor sets. Was a great company to work for when I first started - easy going, was honestly stress free - I loved going to work every shift.

No breaks, working double shifts alone - so no time to eat or use rest room. Going above and beyond and then getting treated like a immature teenager. Lack of postive support from the upper management / corporate. No incentive for making numbers unless you are a store manager/assistant manager. Part time employees who work on the floor don't get rewarded for making goals. Turn over is very high - newer employees not properly trained on the product so customers get frustrated with the wrong information. Over the last year things have changed so much and it is awful to the point that I gave up all together. It got to the point either quit or get fired. Upper management is not held accountable for their actions ever and are allowed to treat employees like dirt.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Only make someone a DM who has actually run a store and knows the functions involved. Promote from within more - it seems that new managers/DM are always from outside of the company. Look into the very high turn over rate in the company and ask yourself why. Train DM's to treat all employees with respect and not talk down to them no matter what their level of employment. Every level down to advisors plays a key role in the running of the store. Relax on the dress code policies - all of them not just the color of the shirts - guess what people have tattoo's now and paint their nails - crazy times we live in!
