I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 3 years)

This company has a good package of salary and benefits for my area, with things like 50% retirement matching and many health-support programs (though some you must fund yourself). Many of the people are good guys, though as a liberal-minded younger person, I have issues with some political views around the office. I've learned a lot of neat new technologies by working with Lockheed.

Especially with newer DoD contracting models, not a lot of support for doing new things, thinking outside the box, etc. Many times we are limited by our customers in terms of good UI design. We could make software easier to use, but the customer is used to using hard-to-use environments (it supports more jobs that way). Sometimes the overall design of the customer's systems architecture makes you want to kick yourself in the head.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to support a better work-life balance for employees, many of whom work a lot of overtime to support their normal projects. Promotions are difficult to come by and career support could definitely be better at the lowest rungs in the company.
