Former Employee - Operations Manager in Lyndhurst, NJ

I worked at Loomis full-time (more than 5 years)

Certain branches rock! I worked on the trucks in the area of the US that carried much of the company. The Seattle branch has a culture of retention and happy workers. We never had to unionize, because labor and management worked well together toward the same goals.

Then I was promoted to Operations manager in the Northeast. That region has no clue how to work together; it's a culture of turmoil and conflict. And it's no wonder the profits of the east coast and profits of the west coast are so vastly different. I was hired to bring that NW culture to the NE. They were not receptive at the higher levels of senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wow. What do I say? Get with the program and stop being so adversarial. You allow HR and the lawyers to set the tone and culture for the workforce. If you worked and talked better with your junior managers and labor reps, maybe unions wouldn't be needed and all the conflict you fear would simply disappear over time. This is the first review I have done since my termination in 2009. I didn't sue Loomis on purpose; they feared my lawsuit less than an unhappy hourly worker. Had they known their rising junior manager, they would have known that I loved and believed in the company too much to ever sue them.
