    I worked at Lowe's part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I have been a seasonal employee in the garden center at Lowes for 4 consecutive years. I had good coworkers, a few good managers, plenty of hours and overtime during the busy season and many regular customers that would remember me or look for me

    Cons

There were a few manager that I didn't care for and that seemed to not care about our department. Can be short staffed towards the end of the summer. Some safety regulations are too restrictive and lower work efficiency, customer service and over complicate the actual task. It is a hassle to unlock the gate in order to get product in and out of the department. Handful of customers that always come in looking for a deal. Like ability of the store and position is dependent upon coworkers and managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many rules and regulations sound great on paper but don't work well at every location. There are a few that hinder work efficiency and the associate's ability to provide customer service. I have denied customers help because I was spotting or because I could not leave an unlocked gate unattended and could not get a manager to come lock it. Customers have had to wait up to 50 minutes for me to load product into their vehicle because I have not been able to get the gate unlocked. When the department is very busy, we have to decide whether to help customers and let product run out or try and restock the empty holes and ignore customers in the process.
