I have been working at Lumber Liquidators full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - (If you get into a high volume store) You can make really good money
    - (if you're wired this way) You're constantly moving, no desk to sit behind.
    - You're success depends on you and your team
    - You meet many different kinds of people, keeps it interesting
    - You get to write large $$$ invoices, high dollar retail
    - Plenty to keep you busy, don't take this job if you just want to sit on a stool all day, you won't last long.
    - Better hours that most other retail.
    - The company does a bunch of advertising, which helps with traffic and interest, but the brand is up to you and how you represent it (you're success depends on you and your team).

    Cons

    - This place is a beast, not your typical retail; it takes a certain type of person to work here. You have to be able to handle a lot!
    - Your "stock" are 1or 2 or 3000 lb pallets of flooring, safety is always a concern.
    - Watching out for your back and other body parts that may get hurt or sore.
    - You're success depends on you and your team; store staff is very streamlined, some have 3 or 4, staff size is base on store volume. If you have a weak team member it will hurt the store and everyone's paycheck.
Also, if someone is out you lose a third of your workforce. You may have to work the store all by yourself a few days if someone takes off. Even worse, if someone quits/terminated, you may be shorthanded a while before another person is hired.
    - You are manager on duty, warehouse mgr, forklift driver, loader/unloader, shipper, cashier, salesman, inside sales rep (phone calls), merchandiser, troubleshooter, inventory specialist, office manager, janitor, and other duties as needed.
Like I said, the store staff is intentionally streamlined (under-staffed) so there is a lot to handle!
    - If you don't make at least 80% of the store's monthly goal, you make no bonus.
    - The company made some bad decisions this past year with availability. Some of the best selling woods and laminates fell through the cracks and weren't available, therefore, it hurt sales; at least at my store it did. Everything seems to be back on track, but it wasn't a good experience at the store level. Hopefully they learned.
    - First off, you have to shine in order to get promoted, although, you will most likely have to move if you do. Some large cities have many stores, however, the majority of areas have 1 or 2 stores. That said, an opening may be far away, which is hard if you're married, you're spouse has their own job, etc.
    - The AKBA (A-- Kicking Bad A--) culture is obnoxious, some get into it, some act like their into it, and others just think it's stupid. It's best to at least "act" like you're into it.
