Good benefits, decent salaries, flexible hours, casual dress, autonomy at work

Complicated promotion process, it is hard to promote outstanding employees from support staff to staff positions, it takes years sometimes. Raises are yearly and are very small. Bonuses are scarce to nonexistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of outstanding employees once you have them, especially after they have learned to navigate the MIT labyrinths. Compensation should be adequate to employees efforts and hard work. Look at those who run the business of the institution while saving money to the institute and getting the job done properly.
