    I have been working at Macy's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    I have hired all of my own employees, so the team I manage is spectacular and helps make my job worth it. If you have to work in retail, working at the biggest store in the world and meeting hundreds of excited tourists every day is rather enjoyable.

    Cons

    There is no way to get everything done that you need to in a day without working outside of your work hours. Office time is limited. 2 hours a week! If you are in the office outside of your allotted office time, you are often reprimanded, and usually in front of coworkers. At the same time, we are given tasks that require that we sit at a computer or at a desk to fill out forms or on the phone to deal with customer issues. A person cannot, no matter how well they manage their time, get everything done. Working through lunch and taking your work home is the only way to succeed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Give us realistic goals. Be realistic in your expectations. We can't be "magic" on the sales floor for the customers and for our employees unless you give us the room to do so.
