    I worked at Macy's

    Pros

The people I worked with, the guests, and attending workshops to learn about the different high end brands the store carries was really interesting. I enjoyed learning about consultative selling and techniques in which I can efficiently assist guests. The employee discount and getting paid every week was amazing!

    Cons

I disliked how high the sales goals were. It felt like you just had to think about making the sale rather than helping them find what suits them best. It seemed kind of contradictory to their whole selling approach. There was also a lot of competition within the department, which created a lot of tension and cattiness between coworkers. Unfortunately, that and only getting paid minimum didn't allow me to enjoy working there as much as I could've.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If employees are making mistakes let them know in advance instead of allowing them to do it over and over again. This truly conflicts with the company's emphasis on personal growth.
