Working with the victims is great, and it is a very easy mission to support. Ability to work around your schedule. You have the ability to meet some very high profile people in the community.

Short sightedness on the part of national/managerial leadership. There is a national office and they decide what the regional offices do which has the potential to be a great system. There unfortunately is not as much collaboration as there is dictation. MADD gets very caught up in talking about helping people, but they dont do too much to actually help in the field. The MADD mission involves serving victims, preventing underage drinking, and what they call "the campaign to end drunk driving". There is more of a focus on just getting numbers than actually bringing about change in the community. Lots of emphasis on paper work, reporting, and following the system that is in place. Not an environment that wants to spur new ideas, creativity, or building the organization. Hopefully this will change in the future. Management on the local level do what they can, but ultimately why would they do more work and follow up when they are overseeing such a large area anyway. The pay is on the lower side for non profit work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start being honest with the staff about the agenda for the future of the organization. Focus on not spreading complacency. Look towards people that are actually qualified to be doing the jobs that they are assigned to do.
