    I worked at Marriott full-time for less than a year


    -It's a decent office job
    -Will get your foot in the door to the hospitality
    -Will teach you how to grow thick skin
    -Some coworkers, especially the housekeepers, were nice to talk to
    -You will gain experience and learn a lot
    -It is good opportunity to transfer
    -Free coffee on the job


    -Hours: Management says it's full time but it's dependent on the needs of the hotel. If your management does not like you, they will not give you a lot of hours even if you're "full time"
    -Work life balance sucks unless you work morning shift
    -They have called me on days I had off and always tried to get me to fill in at the last minute
    -They fought my unemployment and when they lost, they all of a sudden refused to give me a reference
    -Benefits suck and pay suck. The benefits will swallow your check. You're better off on welfare health insurance.
    -The location was a SpringHill Suites franchise so I don't think they lived up to the standards of a corporate owned Marriott

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    -Explain to your employees what full time means
    -Stop stressing your employees when corporate visits and stop pretending to corporate like everything you do is right when it is not
    -Pay us higher wages and give us benefits we can actually afford because we put up with a lot of stuff
    -Stop burning bridges and don't get salty just because unemployment was received by a former employee
    -Tell the truth that your employees are NOT guaranteed to get 32 hours a week or more even if they are full time. That many time their paychecks will match the housekeeper's if not be lower, that they will have to work two jobs or live with a roommate in order to support themselves
