I have been working at Marriott full-time (More than 3 years)
This company truly believes in team-building, and showing employees they have value to the company. They engage in lots of fun events for the sales team, and do their best to make the company a fun place to work. The company also greatly values diversity.
If you're not in the Sales department, expect to be un-invited to fun events. The majority of those hired in the sales department are entry level, have no professional skills, and are only there for the paycheck. This makes it much harder on those who are there trying to do a good job for the customer. The Omaha call center in particular provides little opportunity for career improvement.
Advice to Management
If your employees come in with a particular skill set, use it! Provide more opportunities for growth across the corporate entity. You have several positions within your support departments that you pay hourly. Change that to salaried as you do at corporate, and you would attract a much higher level of talent.
