I have been working at Mathematica Policy Research (More than 8 years)
Flexible work schedule, ability to work from home when needed, own office, free coffee/tea/bagels on Fridays.
No advancement opportunities. Management plays favoritism. Lacks diversity in all departments. If you don't talk a lot that is seen as a negative trait. The promotion list sent out to the company is rather a list to make others feel bad that actually should be on the list for good work performance. Some people continually get promoted year after year, compared to those that have worked hard for many years that have good reviews and don't get compensated fairly. Supervisors don't vouch for those that work underneath them to help them get promotions. Some supervisors clearly don't need/know how to supervise and therefore, badly impacts those underneath them. Because they don't help you get promoted you feel like you're stuck in a rut.
Advice to Management
Clean house from the top and fairly promote/compensate those with consistently good reviews.
